MY NAME IS

I am a dog physiotherapist and book author. Welcome to Doggy Fitness. Dog physiotherapy has been my passion for many years now and I have been privileged to help many dogs gain more pain-free mobility. My guiding principle is “movement is life”. I am joined by Tessa, who you will also see in my online courses. We have been going through life together for many years now. For me, she is the best proof of how much our dogs benefit when we humans take care of their health. Thanks to dog fitness training, gentle massages and supportive measures from nature such as medicinal plants, she is still really fit even at 13 years old. I show you in my courses how you can achieve this with your dog. And it doesn’t matter if you have a healthy dog that you want to support preventively, or a dog with a musculoskeletal condition, or a senior dog. I look forward to seeing you in one of my classes.

My story - why I am so enthusiastic about dog physiotherapy

The topic of dog physiotherapy has accompanied me since mid-2010, since I completed my training for this and am a certified dog physiotherapist. I made the decision for this profession – my vocation – very consciously. I was fascinated by the individual, intensive and gentle work with the dogs. There are so many incredible possibilities to support our dogs with physiotherapeutic measures, regardless of their age and whether they are healthy, already older or they suffer from a disease of the musculoskeletal system.

Canine physiotherapy is a very natural and sustainable way to support the health of our dogs. Something that fascinated me from the beginning is that you can pass on a whole range of measures to dog people after appropriate professional guidance. Thus, even in my practice days, I gave patient owners active exercises to take home as “homework” and led massage seminars.

My goal has always been for dogs to recover and progress as quickly as possible. I see this as my moral obligation, because their health is in our hands. Sharing my knowledge with interested dog people is a great way for them to better manage and accompany their dogs’ illnesses and ailments. My knowledge should give them security. From this, the idea for Doggy Fitness was born and so, since the end of 2017, you can find here a constantly growing and developing portfolio of online courses around the topic of dog physiotherapy , such as on dog fitness training, massage, courses especially for older dogs and accompanying measures .

In October 2022 my book “Physiotherapy for the dog” was published by Kosmos Verlag. This was a dream come true for me and an incredible opportunity to share my knowledge in book form with dog people and create a book that will guide them through every stage of their dog’s life and give them the opportunity to support their dog’s health according to his needs. Since 2022, I have also been continuing my education in phytotherapy (herbal medicine), which is a nice complement to physical therapy. In May 2023, I completed my training in mycotherapy (vital mushrooms). It is very important to me to be able to share my current knowledge with you, so that your dog can benefit from it – for the health of your dog.

Who belongs to my family - Martina private

To me belongs my podencom girl Tessa. In March 2023 she turned 13 years old and I am very happy that she still loves to be by my side for her life on extensive walks and trips in nature. Tessa was a very fearful dog in the beginning, but her fears became less over the years. Not least through the joint training, I was able to intensively strengthen our bond and give her a lot of security. We have made it a ritual to do regular active exercises to keep her fit for a long time. In the meantime, she also likes to be massaged. Tessa’s favorite snack is rabbit ears. I have been a vegetarian since the age of twelve and have been very involved in animal welfare for over 20 years. I love reading books and collecting herbs.
We are also accompanied by several cats that make our family complete. I am grateful from the bottom of my heart that my husband is so supportive of my love for animals. We love our “close to nature life and like to be on the road with the camper – an absolute feeling of freedom. We love the sea as much as the mountains and Tessa even likes to swim.
